Meiji University Signs University-wide Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding with Ryukoku University

On 28th March 2009, Meiji University and Ryukoku University signed a university-wide agreement intended to contribute to the further development of educations and researches in Japan. At the same time, the memorandum to exchange students among the Graduate schools of Science and Technology in both universities was also signed comprehensively.

Under principle of equality and mutual benefit, the agreement states that both the universities promote mutual cooperation regarding exchanges of their students and faculty, implementation of collaborative projects and utilization of their facilities.

Meiji University and Ryukoku University have developed the mutual relationship with joint student exchange events for the purpose of fostering young researchers of mathematics and life sciences through the Support Program for Improving Graduate School Education of Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), “Formation of consortium for education integrating mathematics and life sciences”, which Meiji University and Hiroshima University are conducting. It brought Meiji University and Ryukoku University to have this solid agreement in order to establish further interuniversity collaboration.

At the ceremony, President WAKAHARA showed his expectation, “This agreement will be the first step in authentic interuniversity collaborations based on the achievement of interuniversity exchanges at ’The Consortium of University in Kyoto’”. President NAYA replied, “It is our great honor to sign this agreement in the 370th anniversary year of the foundation of Ryukoku University”. He added, “We would like to promote our collaborations for not only Graduate Schools of Science and Technology but various fields of both universities. To expand our collaborative exchanges to world-wide network will be able to fulfill the commitments for the international societies”. He stated that both the universities will develop the collaborative relationship internationally and will contribute for societies.

Regarding domestic comprehensive interuniversity collaboration, Meiji University has signed the university-wide agreements with national universities, such as Shinshu University, Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Hiroshima University individually. However, Ryukoku University is the first private university for Meiji University to have the comprehensive university-wide agreement. Through the interuniversity exchanges among the universities named above, Meiji University promotes the further development in educations, researches and social contributions.
